Is it “hipster” of me to say that I rarely label someone as a hipster? Oh well, labels are way too mainstream anyway. And hateful. And annoying. And usually 100% innacurate to the personality of the person who is being labeled. And why does everyone say thrift stores are for hipsters? No they’re actually for people who want to shop for cheap items which is something most people like doing anyway. And everyone just shut up about designers who claim to make their clothes look “hipster”. Clothes are clothes, where what you want and what you feel confident in and who cares about the rest? :)
Who cares if you’re “different”? If it’s something you believe in, go for it. Don’t let anyone else influence you. You are your own person. Be different. And don’t hate on people who encourage others to do the same.
I needed a new topic to blog about

Making up for lost Tumblr time…..
So, I’ve beenn watching this new show on HBO called Girls. It kind of reminds me of Sex in the City but a lot less glamorous, haha. It’s basically a lot of really awkward character interactions and the sex on the show is equally awkward. It’s about these four girls, Hannah, Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshanna. Here’s a more detailed character description of each girl : Hannah - Even though she’s the “protagonist” of the show, I really don’t like her that much. At all, in fact. She’s selfish. I mean I know she’s having a hard time financially because her parents decided not to support her anymore, but come on, you could try a little harder to get a job. And her tattoos don’t look very good on her. I can’t even tell what they are. She’s with this scumbag out-of-work actor named Adam who never wears a shirt and he’s not attactive enough to pull off the no-shirt look. He’s too skinny. It’s like he has muscle with no fat or bulk. Whatever. And they have really awkward sex all the time. I must sound pretty shallow at this point but trust me, their personalities live up to their looks. Marnie - Marnie is Hannah’s best friend/roommate. She’s a bitch too. She broke up with her boyfriend that she’s been with forever because “he loves her too much”. Come on! Girls would do anything to have a boyfriend that treats them the way he treats her. So ungrateful. And they had really awkward sex too. Right before they broke up. So that makes me dislike her more. Jessa - Jessa may be my favorite girl. She’s British and different from the other girls because she doesn’t give a shit about what anyone thinks of her. She’s just so wise. I could take some serious advice from her. And she doesn’t have sex as awkwardly as the other girls. Shoshanna - Jessa’s cousin, who is also my favorite girl. She’s 21 and a virgin. Marnie’s reaction was priceless when Shoshanna told her she’s a virgin. Like, is it that suprising? Does everyone have to sleep around before they can legally drink? Is that the new social norm? Pardon me for my ignorance. Shoshanna’s gonna find a good guy so it doesn’t really matter :). Adam - The out-of-work actor with no shirt. The first time you see him on the show he’s trying to have anal sex with Hannah. Charming. He and Hannah are getting along better and have what seems like a relationship, but I still don’t like him. Never will. Well, that’s Girls :).
So this is Rated Next Generation on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew. These girls are incredible, they were only 11-13 when they were discovered on America’s Got Talent (which they were ultimately cut from sometime mid-season). Now they’re older and a lot more advanced than when they first started. We need more strong female hip hop dancers in the world. RNG <3
Civil War
I watched Hotel Rwanda for the first time yesterday. It’s about the genocide that was going on during the Tutsi-Hutu feud in Rwanda during the mid-90s. And about Paul Rusesabagina’s efforts to hide 1,268 refugees in his hotel, away from the genocide. Regardless of which group they belonged to. As I was watching it, Civil War by Guns & Roses came into my head so I thought I’d share the lyrics. It’s a great song.
“My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can’t deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars”
And here’s a link to the music video for Civil War
Probably the most heartfelt and awesome spoken word performance I’ve ever watched……enjoy! From HBO’s Brave New Voices
